nature photos for class tuesday

I took this one at the school. I enhanced the colors and cropped in so the focus would be on the pine cones. I put it in the middle because there are three and I thought it looked the best.

I took this one at the school also. I liked the different colored rocks with the snow and leaves mixed in it and thought it would make a cool picture. My subject is the bright yellow rock in the left hand corner. I enhanced the colors and cropped to get the yellow rock in the left hand corner and tried to use the rule of thirds.
This photo I took by my room. I thought it was an interesting knotch in a tree with something growing in it. I enhanced the colors to make the reds pop more and I cropped to get rid of the distracting bright edges.

thurs blog 11/17/11

I picked this photo because it is a beautiful, peaceful picture of a lake. This is lake Lake Mapourika, in New Zealand. The photograph was taken by Richard Palmer. I like how the mist is on the lake, the clouds are down low, and the blue sky. The ripple and dock lead you out to the water and to the trees and clouds then they circle around and keep you in the photo. I also like the cool relaxing colors in this photo. The photographer had a lot of depth of field but also a faster shutter speed because the ripple and dock are in focus. His shutter speed was 1/15 aperture f5.6. He used a 35-105mm lens and a Cannon PowerShot A70.

I picked this photo because i thought it was a cool way to show lightning. I like how the sky lights up and is a purplish blue and that the lightning strikes are all in sequence. One thing a don't like is the house in the foreground with the lights on.

photo for project

I took this photo by my house. I picked this photo because of how the clouds are lit up and how the trees are silhouetted. I added a black background around the photo choosing to only show the top and bottom and added my signature. I also enhanced the color to make the trees darker and the clouds lighter and brighter. I also cropped and clone stamped a few little things that were distracting like a telephone wire.

Tuesdays pics

5 Pictures
This photo I took outside by the bear. I took the photo from under a tree looking up. I liked all the different colored leaves and the different shapes and sizes of them. In this photo I cropped in a little and enhanced the hue and saturation.
This photo I took at Pioneer Park. I liked this photo because of the few leaves that were left on the tree and I liked the color of the leaves. I enhanced the hue and saturation in this photo and I changed the blues to be more blue and the reds to really pop.

I took this photo at the park right next to the college. I thought it was cool how the leaf really stuck out and that there was some snow next to it. I liked this leaf because it looks like a feather. I cropped this photo to get the tip and end of the leaf in the corners of the photo. I also enhanced the colors to make the leaves stand out more. I like that you can see the detail in the leaf and also in the bark. Most of the other leaves point into the main leaf I was trying to capture drawing your attention to it.

I took this photo by the bear also. I liked the pine cones and it made me think of winter. In this photo I cropped in to only include the pine cone. I got rid of some leaves that took away the attention. I also enhanced the colors to make the pine cone stand out more and made the greens and browns darker.

I took this photo our in the park next to the school. There was a few leaves laying on the tree with snow on them and I thought it made a good picture. I cropped this photo to make the focus on the leaf. I also enhanced the colors to make the leaf and bark stand out more and not look so dull. I took this photo from the top anlge looking down at it.

Thursday blog 11/10/11

I found this photo on national geographic's website and I thought it was a cool action photo. I find sharks intriguing and this is a rare photo of a shark jumping out of water. The photographer had to be very patient to get this shot since it rarely happens. It was taken with a fast shutter speed because the water is frozen and the background is blurred. I also like that the sun is doing down and the colors in the background. You can also see the shark looking into the frame. The way his body is curved keeps you in the frame.

edited photos

These are the edited photos from last weeks blog.

I cropped this photo and enhanced the color by ajusting the hue and saturation.

I cropped this photo to get rid of the other leaf that took attention away from the red leaf and enhanced the colors.
This photo i turned into two photos the one with the red leaf and the one with the other leaf that had more detail. I used this leaf because it was in focus and had more deatails than the red one.

I cropped this photo also getting rid of unneeded details and enhanced the color.

thursday blog11/3/10

www.graphicdesignblog.org/nature-photography/
In this photo red is the most attractive color and draws your attention to the trees. The larger tree in front draws the most attention because it is the largest and closest one. The tree in front is in the best focus and the trees in back start to fade and it seems like fog is covering them. The photographer used the rule of thirds and put the larger tree in the left hand corner. It looks like the leaves might have been moving because they aren't in focus. This picture has more depth of field and a slower shutter speed. The big tree in front draws your eye and then I follow it back to all the other trees lined up behind it then I follow the side walk back up to the tree in front. I liked this photo because of the contrast in colors and the red trees.

leaves

These are some photos I took of leaves at my house and at Pioneer park.

I like this photo because the contrast in colors and red always stand out compared to other colors. I tried to use the rule of thirds and put it in the corner. I don't like how the leaf in the middle is larger than the rest and distracts from the red leaf.

I like this photo because the edges of the leaf are green and the rest of the leaf is a brighter yellow. I also like the jagged edges on the leaf. I don't like how some of the edges are cover by other leaves.

I like this photo because the darker leaf has a ton of detail. I like how you can see the little spots of liter yellow and it also has jagged edges. I also like the contrast in colors.

I like this photo because the leaves are multicolored and i tried to have the leaves come from the right hand corner blurring out everything but the subject.

I picked this one because of the different colors.

This one was taken at my house in my backyard. I like it because of the different colors and the green leaf stands out and is a cool shape.

Thursday Blog 10/27/11

Autumn by the poolside
This photo is called Autumn by the poolside. This picture has very vibrant colors. The first thing that sticks out are the trees because they are purple. I don't know if they are photoshopped or really that color but I thought this was a cool picture. The clouds are blowing back which draws you back into the trees. The water is also darker and starts to fade and eventually leads right back to the trees. The trees on the far right are blowing to the left which draws you back into the picture and the main subject. The trees in front are clear but the ones to either side are a little more blurred. The grass in the front left corner is also in focus and very detailed, so you can picture what the grass and leafs around the lake look like. This picture was taken with more depth of field and a slower shutter speed allowing some of the blowing trees to be blurred. The trees are very large and draw your attention and the light color of the trees is more attention grabbing than the dark water or sky.

Thursday blog 10/20/11

This is a photo by Joseph Rossbach taken of the Autumnal Falls, Green Mountain National Forest, in Vermont. I chose this photo because the leaves are starting to change and they are a beautiful color. This picture has a slow shutter speed because the water is blurred out. Some of the leaves are blurred out closer to the waterfall also. He did not use the rule of thirds but it works in this picture because the waterfall is the subject. The trees compliment the water and bring more attention to it. The two trees closest to the waterfall frame it drawing your attention back to the waterfall. The waterfall flows through the picture. It looks like it could have been a rainy day because the rocks and leaves in the foreground look shiny and wet. It seems like it was cloudy out so the lighting was just right for this picture. It also seems like his camera was pretty close to the water because you can see the rocks and leaves in the foreground clearly, they are very sharp and in focus.

Thursday blog 9/29/11

This is a photo taken by Jeff Yonover. It is a picture of the patterns of a sea urchin. This photo shows that red is the most attractive color, zagged is more attractive than curved lines, and light is more attractive than dark. I like this photo because it is very colorful and has an interesting pattern.

This is a photo of a fish near the coral. This shows that red is the most attractive color, jagged more than curved, light more than dark, sharpness more than blur, and the fish is looking into the frame. I like this photo because of the colors and the texture you can see. I also like how the fish pops out at you.

Thursday pictures from class 9/22

This was a rabbit that ran out of the bushes and was startled by me.

Here is another picture of the rabbit but it is much more calm. Something I don't like about this picture is how the twig is in the rabbits face.

This is a rose by the Fortin Center that I thought was pretty.

Thursday blog 22nd

I like this photo because I love this color and how the one flower is in focus and the background plus the flower in front are blurred out. This photo has a very shallow depth of field creating more interest in the flower that is in focus . It also shows all the detail in the flower.
This is Wonder Lake in Denali National Park. I like this photo because it has cool colors that create a relaxed, calm feeling. It also shows the reflection in the water which means this photo was taken early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the water was calm. It also has snow on the mountain creating a cold atmosphere for the person viewing the photo.
This is a picture of the Stones of Callanish in Scotland. This photo creates a feeling of cold weather or rainy weather. It also has contrasting colors that really make the rainbow pop out. I like this photo because you can see the rainbow so well.
